Is the Availability Calendar up-to-date?

The on-line calendar is updated weekly or bi-weekly but availability changes very quickly during the busy booking season. We will confirm availability with you when you email to reserve our cottage.

How do I book your cottage?

What payment types do you accept?

We prefer payment by Interac e-Transfer, but also accept payment by personal cheque or cash. We do not accept credit cards, PayPal, or cash on arrival (payment must be made in advance).

Is there a phone, TV, or internet connection?

There is no landline phone. There is a pay phone in the local town, 2 minutes away by car. There is coverage for the main cell phone providers. Internet service at our cottage is 5 cent per Meg. (we use Cellular data)

How private is the cottage?

The cottage sits alone on a 2-acre plot with about 500 feet of river front. It is very private, as we are at the end of the road and trees all around our propterty line.

What is provided in the cottage?

The house has air conditioning and fans for each room. We provide linen and comforter for beds. At the end of your stay, please bring all used linen to the laundry room.

What is not provided in the cottage?

Not provided: beach towels, face towel and hand towels, personal toiletries, all paper products, including bathroom tissue and paper towels, food and drinks.

What is the waterfront like?

Our shoreline starts shallow, allowing for easy access to swim. The water depth increases after about 25 feet, allowing for boating.

The waterfront bottom is mixed with sand and some small rocks; it is still easy to walk on.

Can we have campfires?

We have a firepit surrounded with chairs just for campfires. Campfires are only permitted in the firepit. Fires must be supervised and kept to a manageable size. Fires must be extinguished with water prior to leaving the firepit area. Fires are not allowed during local fire bans.

Can we have guests come visit?

For many families, entertaining is part of cottage life. All we ask is that you respect our maximun occupancy of 16 persons (including children) at all times.

Can I drink the water at the cottage?

You are responsible for bringing your own drinking water. Water at the cottage is drawn directly from a well. The water is tested by the city and is safe to drink; we recommand you boil it before drinking.

What's the fishing like?

There is excellent fishing in the Ottawa River. So so so delicious! You can catch fish from the shore or dock. Please abide by Ontario’s fishing regulations should you decide to fish during your stay. You will need an Ontario Outdoors card and a fishing permit.

Can I bring my boat? Where can I launch it?

There is a public boat launch just 2 minutes away; we can provide directions upon request.

Our dock does not have a boat lift or boat whips. We recommend taking your boat out of the water in the event of storms or rough weather.

What parking is available?

There is parking for up to 6 cars on both sides of the house. NO parking in front or behind the house due to the septic tank and water line.

How far are the closest amenities and services?

The little village of La Passe is only a 2 minute drive, and the large town just 15 minutes away has all your need. (e.g. bank, restaurant, ...).

What activities are available in the surrounding area?

White water rafting is the best in this area: there are three rafting companies nearby. There are also two provincial parks with beach near by.
